From Pain to Passion

I Know What It Feels Like to Carry Too Much

The story behind Faye Care & Co. is not a perfect little business story. It is a life story — messy, tender, hard-earned, and full of love.

There were years when surviving was the plan

There were seasons when I measured a good day in very small victories: getting my son where he needed to be, making it through another appointment, answering one more phone call, finding enough energy to handle dinner, and getting to bedtime with everybody okay. As a single mom, there was no magical backup team waiting in the next room. I learned to keep moving because someone I loved was depending on me.

At the same time, my own health was changing the way I moved through the world. Chronic illness brought pain, fatigue, dizziness, surgeries, tests, appointments, setbacks, and days when my body simply did not cooperate with the plans in my head. I learned what it feels like to be scared and still have responsibilities. To need help and hate needing it. To sit in a waiting room hoping someone would finally listen. To have to advocate when you are already exhausted.

That kind of life teaches you things no class can. It teaches you how quickly a family can become overwhelmed. It teaches you that a simple phone call can feel impossible when your brain is carrying twenty other decisions. It teaches you that being told to ‘just find someone’ is not actually helpful when the someone will be walking into your home and caring for a person you love.

“I did not become strong because I wanted a lesson in strength. I became resourceful because life kept handing me things that still had to get done.”

Single motherhood changed the way I see people

Raising my son taught me grit, humor, patience, fierce advocacy, and the art of figuring things out as I went. It also softened me. I know how it feels to look capable on the outside while quietly wondering how you are going to keep all the plates in the air. I know what it means to love somebody so much that you keep showing up even when you are running on fumes.

For a long time, I thought those years were simply something to get through. I could not see the shape they were making. I only knew I was surviving them.

My pain did not become my identity. It became a compass.

And then came Grandma Faye

Care Became Personal in a Whole New Way

This is where the story starts to warm up — because love has a funny way of turning hard-earned lessons into purpose.

My grandmother, Faye, helped all of those scattered pieces finally make sense. At 95, she did not suddenly become a list of care needs. She was still Grandma. She was still the woman with her routines, her faith, her coffee, her favorite little comforts, her opinions, her stories, and the familiar rhythms that made her home feel like hers.

And that mattered to me. Deeply. I did not want someone who could simply fill a shift. I wanted someone who would notice the person before the task. Someone who understood that dignity lives in the little things: how somebody likes their morning, what makes them laugh, when they want quiet, what helps them feel safe, and how they want to be spoken to in their own home.

“I did not want to find just anyone for my grandmother. I wanted to find someone I could feel good about walking through her front door.”

That search changed something in me

I realized how lonely the caregiver search can feel. Families are often already tired before they ever start looking. There are schedules to cover, personalities to consider, family opinions, safety concerns, pay questions, routines, expectations, and a hundred tiny details that do not fit neatly into a box on an application.

And I knew that feeling. Not from a textbook. Not from a corporate training manual. I knew it from living through hard seasons, advocating for people I love, needing help myself, and trying to make good decisions while life was loud.

That is when the idea behind Faye Care & Co. stopped feeling like an idea and started feeling like something I had been preparing for without knowing it. I could take the part of me that notices details, asks one more question, listens for what is not being said, and cares almost ridiculously much about whether people feel comfortable — and put it to work for other families.

The Grandma Standard

If I would not feel comfortable considering someone for my own grandmother, I would not feel comfortable presenting that connection to another family. That is not a slogan to me. It is the standard I carry into every conversation.

Because care is not just coverage. It is trust coming through the front door.

At 41, the pieces finally clicked

And Then Came the Sunshine

I was not starting over. I was starting with experience, empathy, grit, and a very clear reason why.

At 41, I found the kind of work that makes me light up. Not because my life suddenly became easy, and not because the hard chapters disappeared. They simply had somewhere useful to go.

Faye Care & Co. became the place where my life as a single mom, my years of navigating chronic illness, my stubborn persistence, my love for my grandmother, and my natural instinct to connect the right people finally met in one place. For the first time, I could look backward and see that I had not been wandering. I had been gathering tools.

I know firsthand, and I am here to help.

I know what it feels like to be overwhelmed and still be the person everyone is looking to for the next decision. I know the late-night worry, the endless questions, the guilt that sneaks in when you are tired, and the pressure of wanting to do right by somebody you love.

So if you are in that place now, I want you to hear this from someone who truly gets it: you do not have to know everything today. You do not have to solve the whole road at once. You need a next step, a little clarity, and somebody who can help make the search feel human again.

“I cannot promise that caring for someone you love will always be easy. I can promise I will meet you with honesty, warmth, practical help, and the kind of care I would want if it were my own family.”

What I hope you feel here

Seen
You are not “too much.” This really is a lot to carry.
Less alone
Someone understands why the details matter.
More confident
You have thoughtful questions and a clearer next step.
A little lighter
The search does not have to live entirely on your shoulders.

Today, I get to do work that feels like me: personal, thoughtful, practical, a little Southern, full of heart, and grounded in the belief that the right caregiver should feel like home. I get to honor my grandmother every time I help another family slow the chaos down and focus on fit, comfort, personality, and the person behind the care needs.

From surviving to serving. From pain to passion. From my family to yours.

That is The Faye Way.
